Introducing the Lab wizard

The Lab wizard is an application (app) in which you can configure the Transcoding and Destination profiles for IPTV and Multiscreen profiles for audio and video streams.

In the Lab wizard app, a user (Lab wizard) evaluates, customizes, maintains, tests, and validates IPTV, Multiscreen, and Destination profiles, to provide correct video/audio streams to your customer.
After users are set up, use the Lab wizard app to configure the profiles for your video/audio streams. To start the Lab wizard app, either click the Lab wizard icon on the launchpad or from the drop-down.

Your VOS Cloud Service Profiles (Harmonic golden profiles) are based on the information you provided at the initial enrollment in the VOS Cloud and contain recommended settings. If you provide information that you have video/audio IPTV services that you output individually, and then multicast for Multiscreen destinations, the Lab wizard screen includes an IPTV profile, a Multiscreen profile, and Destinations profiles for every output type that is supported. You can edit or validate these profiles before you create and activate your services.

The Profile tab explained

The Profile tab contains the available profiles, the versions, and validation status.

Element + Description
1 Harmonic golden profile version 2.3. This is the recommended base version from which customer versions are derived.
2 The new Harmonic golden profile requires a VOS software update, before it can be updated.
3 There are 0 services linked to this profile.
4 Customer profile version 5. The latest customer profile.
5 There is a new version of the Harmonic golden profile.
6 The customer profile has been validated.
7 The customer profile has not yet been validated.

Versions and validations

Versioning profiles describes how VOS applies version numbers to profiles.

On the Profile tab of the Lab wizard, each profile has a Harmonic version number preceded by a Harmonic icon . This version number is a value with a decimal.

Once you validate this Harmonic profile, you see a customer icon followed by a value without decimals .

Figure-2: Customer version example

Whenever you update, test, and validate a profile, the customer number is increased by 1.
